Info : Taking Protein Powder into New Zealand

Can I take Protein Powder into NZ
i.e. through customs???

I have been stressed about this topic for 3 days!
I researched online and there were some people saying it's fine, others said it got confiscated >_<

Now I can tell everyone out there travelling from Australia the answer^^

It was Thursday night and I sent an email to NZ customs that night
and NO ONE got back to me till Saturday afternoon.
My trip was Saturday and this is what they said.

"If it is commercially prepared and packaged"....
what does this mean?????
Obviously it is commercially prepared and packaged.
I wanted to know if it has to be new!!!!!

I also tried calling them but no one picked up!
It was Saturday so no one would reply to me the same day.

Thus, I called up the airport as my last resort.
I tried soooo many numbers and this is the one you should call.
The man that I spoke to said "Ideally it should be sealed but in reality not really"

OLEH~~~!!!!

CALL THIS NUMBER TO CHECK ANYTHING (not just for protein powder)
+64 9 909 8609

Then someone else got back to me
and this is what it said

If you are ringing from Australia you need to dial the international prefix before the number. I think for Australia it is 0011.So try the following number: 0011 64 9 9098614.
Your protein powder must meet the following conditions and then it will be permitted entry into NZ:
7.20 Private consignments of muscle protein powders containing dairy and egg ingredients from Australia, USA, Canada, and the European Union may be given biosecurity clearance provided the following requirements are met:

i. The product is shelf stableii. The product is commercially packaged and prepared iii. The product is in its original sealed packaging on arrivaliv. The country of origin is identifiable from the packagingv. The total weight of the consignment is 20 kilograms or less

Please declare the protein powder on your declaration form.

Ah~ what the hell
I decided I will take it!  sealed or not. I'd rather risk it!

I had my huge 1.5KG already opened (about 1KG left) &
partially used bucket of protein and new unopened BCCA.
Took up so much of my 23KG baggage limit but it is so much better than buying it in NZ.
The same stuff I would have had to pay more than $230.

I arrived at the airport,
Retrieved my bag,
Went to the customs gate.
I declared my protein powder and the man there said

"I will let you off this time but next time it needs to be sealed"

Oh man~
Talk about MAJOR RELIEF!!!!

So ultimately, you can take your protein powder into NZ as long as it's in its original packaging.
Ideally it should be sealed and new
but because in reality it is hard to take 2-3KG of protein powder with you
I think they let you off
AS LONG AS YOU DECLARE IT

Purchasing : Bellabox "is it worth the money??"

Is This Worth Your Money??

I first came across "bellabox" through a friend on Facebook in November 2013.
She had liked an advertisement for a 5% discount on the yearly membership package. I looked around Google and found an even BETTER deal for the yearly membership.
Instead of the normal $15 per month ($180 per year) they have a deal on their website for $165
I bought mine for $140 (I think it was a 15% discount deal I found on Google)
searched "bellabox membership discount code".

So the idea is that you sign up for the box which comes to you each month
(around the middle of the month).
You then open the box which contains FIVE or more beauty/lifestyle products.
In the next 1-2 weeks you are to TEST out these products and REVIEW them on their website.
Then finally you may decide to purchase what you have tried that month with free shipping or a host of other products available.

You receive points for every review, every dollar you spend and every friend that you sign up.
If you have enough points, you could redeem these to use as cash on the website.
The points are valid for 12 months so you may wish to leave them there till you spend them at once or when a good deal/sale comes along.

Now for the Review of the "bellabox"

1. COST

Beacuse I bought my 12 month membership for $140
it turns out to be $11.64 per box.
Domestic postage in Australia costs around $7-8
....(can vary depending on region but you get the point. The box itself turns out to be VERY CHEAP)

So a "TICK" here

2. THE CONTENT (most important)

Instyle Magazine (bonus)

Overall,
I have
really liked/  really liked thus purchased  / really glad I got to try

12 product over the 8 months.

So it turns out to be 1.5 products per box.
These vary from samples to full size products so I can not put a price on it.

There has been some boxes that were TERRIBLY disappointing (FEB MAR)
but sometimes nearly every item seemed to make me HAPPY (MAY).

So a "CROSS" and a "TICK" here

If I had to pick the WORST products:
-Aquaverse Australia Hand Cream
-Party Proof cream Lipstick
-Mary Kay Mineral Eye Palette - Garden Sky

If I had to pick the BEST products:
-Wotnot Facial Wipes (25) Sensitive Skin PINK
-Anastasia Brow Gel - Clear

-Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Make-Up CorrectorPen

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE:
More products I have not seen before.
Not the bad coloured lipsticks, body creams and shampoos!
I would prefer something like a body oil, bright coloured long wear lipstick, hair treatments!

Haven't Seen yet in my box:
Fragrances, eyebrow pens, highlighters, eye pencils, nail polish, lip tars/stains, blush, bronzer, etc

3. REWARD SYSTEM & PURCHASES

I think the reward system and points are very fair.
I NEVER miss the review. Now they have included a review of the monthly box
(a good idea but I can go further by having a caption on comments...but I think it will end up with people complaining of what they didn't get and what they want)
So a "TICK" here

I made a purchase online and it arrived in 2-3 days..... REALLY FAST!            (So a  "TICK" here)
But the packaging was crushed. It wasn't packed properly with bubble wrap T0T.
The package contained glass and oil. I was very disappointed about the packaging
but the quality of the product inside was as good as if you bought it from the store.
So a "CROSS" here

4. THE CONCLUSION:

So.....Is This Worth Your Money??

If you are a person
-willing to give everything a go?
-don't mind some bad products?
-are patient ?
-like the feeling of receiving a mystery parcel?
-have some extra cash on hand?

Then I would recommend it^^
Why not?!
