Baby Eczema and what my baby was prescribed in NZ

So my baby had eczema on the fold of her left arm. This got really yellow, crusty and wet. No matter how much moisturiser I used it would not completely disappear. So I went and saw my GP in silverdale. They prescribed Evara Cetomacrogol & Glycerol Cream and ethics hydrocortisone cream. These didn't really do much.

I ended up using Cerave baby moisturising cream which we got from my sister-in-law who lives in Australia. Unfortunately this product is not available in NZ unless you buy it from an online store.

We went and saw the doctor the second time and they prescribed Locoid ointment. This seemed to bring down the rash a lot quicker than hydrocortisone cream. However it never fully got rid of the eczema.

We finally went for the third time and I asked the doctor for some advantan ointment. This is a lot stronger than the locoid. Below is a table of topical steroid potency. This is available on the https://healthify.nz/ website.

This third doctor seemed to have more knowledge about steroids and said shehas had more conversations with dermatologists in the past. She knew that we under-prescribe and under-apply steroids. It is recommended that you apply "sparingly" but too sparingly you end up not applying enough and it just gets rubbed off onto the clothing. It is better to apply somthing stronger that works and for a short period of time than applying a steroid of lesser strength for weeks and weeks.
